Faculty of Engineering Organizes a Scientific Trip to the Art City Foundation for Cinema and Television
The Department of Media Technology Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at the UOITC organized a scientific trip to the City of Art Foundation for Cinema and Television.
The importance of this scientific trip to the students of the Department of Media Technology Engineering, which is special for the study of materials related to (media, engineering and fine arts) and the attendance with the participation  in a workshop that is titled "messages from Baghdad creativity" in implementing the documentary film, this workshop organized by the Foundation in cooperation with the Ministries of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities of Iraq.
The scientific tour aims at introducing students in a field-based way for making a documentary film to accumulate the engineering, technical and media expertise. The scientific trip included the definition of documentaries and how the documentary film was produced through a lecture introduced by American and Swedish directors as well as through visiting the studio of art city foundation to get more knowledge about the technical means used in the process of production and releasing.
The City of Film and Television Foundation, located in Al Waziriya, is a city of cinema and television, with advanced capabilities in various stages of film and television production, which benefit all specialists in culture, arts and media and have a role in promoting cinema and television in Iraq.
These initiatives also represent a turning point for students especially at the beginning of their initial stages in the field of specialization as a consequent motivation and encouragement to develop their spirit of excellence and success.

The Council of the League Holds Its Fourth Periodic Meeting 
 The Council of the University of Information Technology and Communications held its fourth periodic meeting under the chairmanship of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Bakri.
During the meeting, a number of studies and recommendations were discussed by the members of the council in addition to the directives issued by the university president.
They discussed ways of developing the human resources sector to integrate with the electronic governance systems provided by the assistant president for scientific affairs, in addition to discussing the establishment of the job fair in coordination with the specialized companies and presenting the graduation projects for the students of the fourth stage in the Faculty of Business Informatics.
The University Council approved the formation of a committee to evaluate the candidates who wish to transfer to the university, and models were presented for the proposed logo of the Faculty of Engineering in addition to other sub-topics.

UOITC Gets the Shield of Excellence in Chess Tournament
The University of Information Technology and Communications has won the Shield of Excellence in the Chess Championship for Iraqi Universities.
Dr. Emad Kazem Al-Kaabi, Director of the Department of Student Activities, gave the Excellence Award of Iraqi Universities to the President of the University, Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri.
The university participated in the chess tournament for the Iraqi universities, which hosted the University of Technology, the University of Information Technology and Communication and the University of Degla College, with wide participation of public and private universities. In turn, the President of the University appreciated the efforts of the Department of Student Activities in establishing sports championships inside and outside the university and the participation of students in local and international championships, which contributed to raising the name of the University of Information Technology and Communication in many sports and scientific forums.

College of Engineering Organizes a Seminar on the Bad Internet Service in Iraq 
 The College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications organized a seminar on Internet service in Iraq.
The seminar, which was presented by Dr. Nael Ahmed Mohammed from the Department of Computer Communication Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, aimed at identifying the main problems and obstacles facing the internet service in Iraq and the proposed solutions.
The seminar dealt with the definition of the Internet and its history and stages of development in Iraq, in addition to the basic services provided by the Internet to all members of Iraqi society.
Then,  the seminar presented an idea about how to provide Iraq with this service, which comes through the border crossing from neighboring countries and go through several stages until it reaches the homes of citizens.
 Ahmed said that it is normal to be affected by this service, you find them in the best cases in some cases or worse cases at other times because of the policies pursued by the government and the Ministry of Communications and the General Company for communications and mail and equipped companies and owners of towers.
As well as the introduction and dilution of the network, which needs to be constantly reform of the failures and technical problems caused by global weather conditions in addition to the damage because of the security situation experienced by the country in general, an obstacle to the Internet service.
The symposium also addresses the solutions adopted by the State and the Ministry of Communications in building the national Internet project in Iraq, which seeks for the first time to connect the country to the international network of an optical cable of four ports with the establishment of an international gateway to secure and protect data at each port. Dr. Nael Ahmed Mohammed had previously hosted in the university channel to talk about this subject, and on the other hand, listened to all the interventions made by the audience of lecturers and staff at the university presidency during this symposium.

 The Evaluation Committee for the work of the software systems in the Iraqi Commission for Computers and Informatics and the University of Information Technology and Communication held a symposium to evaluate the electronic systems used by the departments and the university.
The workshop, which was sponsored and attended by the President of the University and the Commission, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen al-Bakri, was inaugurated by the teacher Mohamed Abdel Wahab in the presence of the members of the committee and in the presence of officials of the scientific centers, heads of departments and a number of employees.
The Committee for Evaluation and Follow-up of the work of the systems gave a brief presentation of the software systems used by the Commission and the University with a comparison in terms of work on the system and the extent of its need to work in addition to the number of users working on the system and problems faced by the user and recommendations of the Committee and other topics.
The presentation also included statistics on the systems that work in the Commission and the University and what has actually been achieved by providing the necessary inputs for the success of the system's work, such as providing the equipment and users trained on the system, as well as addressing the obstacles and problems that stand in the way of implementing and applying some electronic systems, the unwillingness of some departments to work on a particular system under the pretext that the system does not fit with the activity of the department. For his part, President of the university and the Commission Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen al-Bakri expressed optimism about the work of the Committee and identify the strengths and weaknesses through statistics, and is supposed to use a range of electronic services that must be unique to our university from the rest of the universities.
Evaluation will be continuous and scheduled according to a specific time plan for the development of programs and electronic systems by programmers and users to reach binding recommendations designed to develop solutions and follow up the use of these systems and develop them in order to access the electronic university ". During the workshop, substantive recommendations were made regarding what would happen if some systems and databases were merged to produce better and more comprehensive results in order to achieve the principle of what is known as Smart University by opening the discussion between developers and designers of electronic systems, users or beneficiaries.
It was also agreed to hold subsequent meetings and workshops to follow up the implementation of this work in order to achieve the completion of business as quickly and effortlessly.

UOITC Holds a Workshop on Developing Programs and Dealing with Modern Software Platforms 
 The Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Division at the University of Information Technology and Communications held a workshop on "Modern Programming Techniques" for raising awareness in developing programs and dealing with modern software platforms. The workshop, which was given by the programmer Yahya Zaki Ali and the programmer Salah Abdul Rasool from the IT Center, aims at sensitizing students in programming and software development by dealing with modern software platforms that help in making the right decision and adopting the various programming languages that contribute to building excellent software systems, speed of performance, data retention, and response speed to user request. The workshop discussed the correct construction of the databases and how to link the tables correctly to accelerate the storage of information and the possibility of working multiple flows to alleviate the overload on the system because of requests and orders issued by users. During this workshop, a practical application was implemented directly through access to the content of the electronic supervision system designed by the programmer Yahya Zaki and applied in the University of Information Technology and Communications, the General Authority for Taxation, the Secretariat of Baghdad and the Office of the Inspector General, as well as universities and other government departments.
