A Breakfast Banquet for Students in the University Dormitory
The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, held an Iftar banquet for students of the university's dormitory at his own expense.
The President of the University participated with the students in light of these blessed days in order to raise their spirits and guide them and encouraging them to excel and scientific excellence, especially in the final examinations.
Al-Bakri was accompanied by the head of the dormitory at the university. The visit comes to examine the reality of the dormitory and the available services in order to provide the necessary necessities.
On the other hand, the students expressed their satisfaction with the visit and the Iftar, where the photographs were taken with the university president in an atmosphere filled with joy and optimism.
The President of the University Inspected the Progress of the final exams for students of the College of Business Informatics
The President of the UoITC Prof. Dr. Abbas M. Al-Bakry did an inspection tour of the final examination halls for the academic year 2018-2019 for students of the Faculty of Business Informatics.
During the inspection tour, the university president emphasized the need to provide students with the appropriate situations and to prepare all the requirements that lead to the success of the process of implementing the quarterly tests and completing them smoothly.
The university president recommended the students to persevere and excel in their academic life and achieve success in the quarterly exams, which is an important step to progress to another stage.
Dr. Bakry also pointed out during his tour, among other things, the commitment in the specific times of the exam and the necessity of clarifying the questions so that their answers are specific.
He added that our university is specialized in the field of information technology and should be promoted as an important scientific edifice and the students are the main pillar and the development of their scientific capabilities are in the priorities of the university through these scientific tests.
The University of Information Technology Held the Second Iraqi Information Society Forum
The UoITC held the Second Iraqi Information Society Forum under the title "Empowering everyone from the positive use of artificial intelligence". The forum was held in cooperation with the Iraqi Association for Communications and Information Technology and coincided with the World Telecommunication Society Day.
The meeting was attended by the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Prof. Dr. Nabil Al-Araji) in addition to a number of specialists and researchers in the field of information technology from the public and private sectors. The University President, Dr. Abbas M. Al-Bakry said in a speech during the forum: "The University aimed to hold the Iraqi Information Society Forum annually in conjunction with the annual World Telecommunication Society Day (WTSD). The aim of the celebration in this day is to raise the awareness in the abilities to exploit the information technology and communications in building an economic community that initiates the prosperity for the citizen".
Al-Bakry said: "The acceleration in the requirements of the labor market in different sectors requires us as a university and academic institutions to keep up this acceleration. Whereas at the beginning of 2025 and 2030, a large number of jobs will be abolished and replaced by a larger number and this requires from us having a real vision for this change. University president emphasized "The UOITC with its seeking to graduate the first batch of its students this year to keep pace with these innovations through the possibility of providing an appropriate environment for the investment mechanism for scientific research to have a real impact in society".
On the other hand, the Prof. Dr. Nabil Al-Araji said during the forum: "Iraq still follows artificial intelligence just in the theoretical side while the great and rapid development that is taking place in the world, indicating that the artificial intelligence represents a major pivot in various areas of life ". Al-Araji pointed out that "Nowadays, Iraq is in dire need of real process according to a systematic framework to move towards the use of artificial intelligence according to the great change that will impact on the jobs in the world, which began to rely on artificial intelligence. He also called for the need to establish an information society for serving the country”.
During the forum, a number of lectures were introduced by IT specialists and were conducted through two sessions, which included more than ten lectures in the field of artificial intelligence. During the forum, the university president presented the university's shield to Prof. Dr. Nabil El-Araji, and a number of certificates were distributed to the lecturers and companies that participated in the forum.
Meanwhile, Ras Al-Bar General Trading Company, the official agent of Canon in Iraq, presented the creative shield to the President of the UoITC, Dr. Abbas M. Al-Bakry and to the Prof. Dr. Nabil Al-Araji in appreciation to their efforts in the field of information technology.
During the forum, a number of student’s graduation projects from College of Business Informatics at the University were presented, in addition to a number of companies presented their services and equipment in the field of communications.
The Faculty of Business Informatics at the University awards prizes and certificates to students and teachers
Dean of the Faculty of Business Informatics Dr. Safaa A. Mahdi presented awards and certificates to a number of students and lecturers who participated in the activities of the university.
The Dean of the College presented certificates of appreciation to a number of lecturers for their efforts in the success of the short stories competition held in the college, which was attended by a number of students, which won the first rank the student Mustafa Salam followed by the student Mohammed A. Hamza in the second rank, while the student Hussein Mahmoud in the third rank.
Cups and medals were also distributed to the winners of the third football championship that was held at the university and won by the team of the second stage / Department of Systems Administration. As well as distributing the medals for the best player and the best scorer in the tournament
The First Fair of Jobs and Graduation Projects of the Fourth Level Students
The University of Information and Communication Technology (UoITC) organized an fair of graduation projects of the senior students of the Faculty of Business Informatics and the "First Jobs Fair" with the participation of a number of private sector companies.
The Department of Rehabilitation, Placement and Follow-up at the University conducted the first job fair with the participation of a number of private sector companies and banks, such as Smart Delivery Company, Moon Gate for Information and Communication Technologies, Earthlink Communications Company, Noah Electronic Platform, Al-Aswar Trading Group, developments International Bank, This exhibition was held in order to open the horizons of cooperation with private sector institutions in order to market university graduates to the labor market.
The head of the university, Dr. Abbas Mohsen al-Bakry, said in a speech during the exhibition: "The acceleration in the requirements of the market in the mixed sectors requires us as academic societies and institutions to keep tracking of the acceleration. Between 2025 and 2030, a huge number of jobs will be canceled. The larger of these jobs, this requires us to have a real and realistic vision of this change.
Also the assistant of head of the university for scientific affairs, Dr. Jean Jalil Astefan, said that the university seeks through the Division of Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up to pay attention to the development of their abilities in the field of information and communications technology, which gives them the ability to compete for jobs after graduation through a series of training and rehabilitation programs For students during their studies as well as open the prospect of cooperation with public and private sector institutions in order to market them to the local labor market.
During the fair, a lecture about the practical life of the postgraduate student provided by the Moon Gate for ICT was focused on how the graduating student can market himself to companies in the public and private sectors.
The head of the University also opened the fair of graduation projects for the fourth year studentsin the Faculty of Business Informatics and briefed the student's projects as well as a number of projects presented by the companies participating in the exhibition.
The Information Technology Center / Applications Section offered a system of follow-up and recruitment of graduates, which aims to follow up and graduate students after the end of the academic study through the preparation of workshops and conferences to qualify them and find jobs for them through the correct preparation for them.
At the end of the fair, the university president presented a book of thanks and appreciation to the participants in the exhibition from private companies and banks in appreciation of their efforts in supporting the students.
The National Classification Project for Universities
The Subcommittee on the University of Information Technology and Communication, which is responsible for explaining the national university classification project forms, discussed the university classification forms 2016-2017.
The committee, which is headed by the Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Performance, which consists of the scientific departments in the faculties and the department of scientific affairs, studies and planning, headed by the university for the purpose of preparing for the national classification of Iraqi universities. They discussed the forms of classification prepared by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The purpose of this meeting is to identify the main purpose of this classification in order to find a sequence of Iraqi universities where the location of each university is based on the degree obtained. These forms deal with a large number of sub-axes and a certain calculation for the outcome of the evaluation of the university
The evaluation process includes scientific research, conferences, symposiums, academic programs, cultural and entertainment activities, and the preparation of students, teachers, infrastructure and internal departments. It also includes the preparation of the teaching staff, the scientific structure of each department, and the number of published or accepted papers at international or local conferences and the voluntary activities organized by the faculties or the university presidency.
University Of Information Technology and Communications held a Scientific Symposium named “How to Start Deep Learning”
UOITC held a Scientific Symposium named “How to Start Deep Learning” attended by a number of department heads and staff at the university.
The symposium, which was held on the main hall at the university, aimed at pointing to the importance of learning about “deep learning” in modern applications. Whereas a summary of its definition and challenges was presented and examples of the institutions that use it were presented.
The seminar included an explanation of the difference between the Artificial Intelligence and the modern applications from on side and the classical methods from another side and applying it in international companies such as "Google, Facebook, and Microsoft." The seminar also presented the modern algorithms used with Deep learning, Tenser Flow, Caffe and how to start working In this regard, the seminar also explained the steps of working in this area in detail.
At the end of the seminar, it was also presented the linking between the artificial intelligence and the reality of work in companies and government departments as the university is specialized and interested in such subjects that these institutions need.
The seminar was introduced by the Assist. Lect. Laith S. Al-Zubaidi at the Information Technology Center, who answered the questions and inquiries of the attended lecturers and employees of the university staff.
University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC) organized an educational seminar on organic sensors in smartphones.
The seminar firstly started by defining the types of sensors in general and the types of organic sensors in particular, as they interact with the human body directly, such as fingerprint sensors, heartbeat sensors, diagnosing lung efficiency sensors and others, which have a significant role in saving the patient's life in critical situations.
The seminar also highlighted the gestures for smartphones and their importance in the design of such phones such as hand movements when used in various applications in addition to the usefulness and role of organic sensors in smartphones.
