The College of Business Informatics, and Technology in cooperation with the National Security Service and the University Security Directorate, organized a workshop on electronic blackmail. A specialized team delivered the workshop from the Directorate of University Security in the National Security Agency, where they addressed the definition of electronic blackmail, the risks that occur through it, and how to prevent its dangers and consequences. The workshop devised several recommendations to avoid falling into the traps of extortionists. These recommendations include developing programs to monitor the home Internet, using two-factor authentication for social media programs, adding the mobile SIM number that must be in the user’s name to secure email and social media accounts, constantly updating the programs used on the mobile device, and setting strange and complex passwords to increase security. The workshop also indicated the necessity of not opening any links sent from unknown parties, using paid anti-virus protection programs, and avoiding free wireless networks.
