The activities were launched with an official presence represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Iraqi universities’ representatives, professors, and university students.
The Assistant President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Nassif Jassim welcomed the audience, focusing in his speech on the role of economic activities in the country, adding that the process of relying completely on the central system for getting jobs must change, and that is why the ministry took it upon itself to establish incubators for this issue. He mentioned that the Riyada initiative is one of the important Initiatives launched by the Iraqi government to sponsor small projects and build private companies.
During the first day of the activities, Dr. Alaa Talal Yassin, head of the Rehabilitation and Employment Division, presented a workshop on the university’s role in supporting the pioneering project and the technological incubator, presenting statistics on the number of training courses that were offered at the university, which contributed to serving the community and supplying the labor market with several pioneering and creative project owners. She noted that the university obtained accreditation for trainers within a leadership project.
Then, the lecturer at the College of Engineering Mr. Adham Rabie, lectured on intellectual property for entrepreneurial projects. It was followed by a competition programming hackathon (for the pioneering programmer), presented by Dr. Mohamed Saleh, Head of the Business Informatics Technology Department.
