The lecturer in the College of Engineering (Prof. Dr. Jaafar Athab Ankud), Head of the Department of Communications Engineering and Mobile Computing, and (Dr. Nael Ahmed Muhammad), Head of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems at the College of Biomedical Informatics, published a scientific paper entitled (FREE SPACE OPTICS) BACKHAUL LINK FOR SMALL CELLS OF 5G CELLULAR NETWORKS) in the Journal of Engineering Science and Technology categorized within the Clarifit and Scopus Q2 containers

The research discussed the use of optical links instead of radio links to connect between small wireless stations within the fifth-generation networks, and real field experiments were conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology / Communications Research Center using modern communication devices to evaluate the research on the ground.
