Biomedical Informatics College, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, held a symposium on “Criminal Responsibility for Electronic Extortion Crimes”.

The symposium presented by the official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, included an explanation of the criminal aspect and the legal procedures used to deal with cases of electronic extortion, as he explained the possibility of the competent authorities to reach the perpetrators of these crimes and prosecute them, while addressing some realistic stories.

Artist and actor Hafedh Al-Aibi participated in the symposium to talk about some phenomena of electronic extortion in society and its negative consequences by reviewing a set of examples and facts on this subject.

While the Lecturer, Nidhal Gomar Abdul Wahed, administrator for the Psychological Counseling Division at the University, explained the reasons for electronic extortion and discussed its impact on the psyche of the victim, as she emphasized the importance of the family, moral constants, and societal norms in confronting these practices, and some habits and behaviors unfamiliar to our society that must be avoided were also discussed.
