The University of Information Technology and Communication ranked seventh in the classification of Iraqi universities and academic institutions in the 2023 Scimago Global Ranking, which evaluated eight thousand four hundred and thirty-three institutions around the world.

The results of this classification showed the participation of forty-seven Iraqi institutions, including twenty-eight universities, including Technological, Baghdad, Babel and Al-Mustansiriya universities, in which Iraqi universities and academic institutions achieved important competitive results.

The Scimago classification is based on a composite indicator that combines three different criteria based on research performance (50%), innovation output (30%) and societal impact (20%).

Relevancy as well as a requirement to publish at least 100 papers in the SCOPUS database within the year of evaluation
