In line with implementing the programs and activities of the National Higher Education Strategy for 2024, the Continuous Education Department, in collaboration with the College of Biomedical Informatics, organized a seminar on the development of legal skills.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Mohammed Karim, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, titled “Duties and Rights of Public Employees.” It addressed the laws governing public employment and the associated duties that employees must respect and apply; failure to do so could expose them to disciplinary actions as outlined in the State and Public Sector Employees Disciplinary Law No. 14 of 1991 in case of violations.
The seminar also highlighted the key duties mentioned in the Code of Conduct No. (1) of 2016 requires employees to adhere to these standards as a condition for continued service. Additionally, it outlined the important rights of employees as specified in the Civil Service Law No. (24) of 1960, including financial rights such as salaries, allowances, bonuses, and promotions, as well as non-financial rights such as leave entitlements. Furthermore, it discussed circumstances under which an employee’s relationship with their position may end, including resignation, retirement, or termination during the probation period.
