The University of Information Technology and Communications organized a symposium on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the seminar was delivered by University’s faculty member Nidhal Gomar Al-Abadi, and Nisreen Abdel-A’ali, a trainer in the Publishing and Education Department of the High Commission for Human Rights. The symposium addressed the definition of the legal articles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which means that 30 articles must be adhered to by the countries that signed it in 1966, in addition to the covenants and charters that were approved after it. The symposium highlighted the importance of human rights, which is considered the path and plays a decisive role and constitutes a preventive and transformative force for good, especially in times of crises and wars, and the slogan of this year was “Our rights are our future immediately”. The Declaration also guarantees that every person has a place to live in dignity and respect and that human rights and equality are recognized, including social, political, economic, and other rights. The symposium also produced some global contradictions and double standards, especially during the brutal attack by the Zionist entity on Gaza and southern Lebanon, as it indicated that they are practical standards and laws and a vital framework that protects against abuses and violations. Finally, the symposium gave a summary of the work of the High Commission for Human Rights, which plays a vital role in promoting and protecting people, spreading awareness of human rights, educating individuals, and the importance of education, monitoring, evaluation, support, assistance, and striving to embody the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
