The College of Business Informatics (BIC), in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Department at the University of Information Technology and Communications, has concluded an advanced training course titled “Measuring Student Learning Outcomes According to the ABET Methodology”. The two-day course was held with the participation of a number of faculty members and staff.
The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Abdul-Ridha Mohammed, Head of the Quality Department at the university, and Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Faleh Hamzah, Head of the Quality Unit at the College of Business Informatics. The two lecturers discussed the scientific methods used in evaluating learning outcomes and the mechanisms for aligning them with academic accreditation requirements according to the ABET methodology.
The course covered a range of topics, most notably the design of questionnaires as a primary tool for measurement and evaluation to improve academic programs, as well as the mechanism for preparing quality reports in accordance with the approved templates within the academic institution.
The lecturers emphasized that applying ABET standards directly contributes to raising the level of academic programs and strengthening their position in educational rankings. They noted that this course comes as part of the College of Business Informatics’ efforts to reinforce a culture of quality and meet the requirements for academic accreditation.
