As part of the “A Summer of Giving” initiative launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hassanein Majid Al-Taie, a faculty member at the University of Information Technology and Communications, along with a select group of his students, delivered two scientific and practical lectures at the Council of Ministers / Military Industrialization Authority.

The first lecture was titled “Drones: Development, Applications, and Challenges” which focused on the principles of drone operation, their types, civilian and military applications, and the recent technological advancements in this field.

The second lecture, titled “Guided Missiles: Basic Concepts and Military Applications” focused on the physical and engineering principles of guidance systems, as well as the role of artificial intelligence and sensors in enhancing accuracy and efficiency.

This activity, which was attended by several experts from the Military Industrialization Authority—who expressed their admiration for the scientific content and practical examples—aims to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions and governmental sectors, while involving students in hands-on activities that align with the country’s needs, reflecting the principle of “science in service of the nation.”

For their part, officials from the Authority announced their readiness to sign a memorandum of understanding with the university, aimed at leveraging academic and student expertise in projects that support the development of national industries. They also expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative.

This activity also fulfills Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as the university continues to expand its cooperation with state institutions in ways that support national development, manufacturing, and service to our beloved Iraq.
