The College of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Information Technology and Communications organized an awareness campaign to spread health and psychological awareness about autism spectrum disorder among students and faculty. The campaign, organized by the Student Activities Division and the Media Unit, included a workshop titled “Understanding Autism: Awareness, Acceptance, and Support.” The workshop focused on defining autism spectrum disorder, its most prominent signs and causes, and educational and psychological methods for dealing with those afflicted. A number of Iraqi studies and research were also reviewed. During the media campaign, awareness and information posters were distributed and posted throughout the college to reinforce awareness messages among students and visitors. This step aims to support a culture of acceptance of others and understanding the special needs of this important group in society. This event comes within the framework of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and the College’s keenness to interact with health and psychological issues, and to consolidate its role as an educational institution that contributes to building a more aware and humane society. The campaign also achieves Goal (3) Good health and well-being, and Goal (10) Reducing inequalities.
