The College of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Information Technology and Communications organized a scientific seminar titled “Electronic Plagiarism, How to Avoid It, and the Mechanism of Turnitin.” The seminar was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulqadir Fares, Asst. Prof. Dr. Maysaa Ahmed, and Lecturer Ahlam Rashid.
The seminar addressed the analysis of how Turnitin works to detect text similarity, outlining the principles it relies on to verify academic originality using artificial intelligence technologies. It also reviewed the main strategies that help researchers and students avoid electronic plagiarism.
The seminar also included practical applications demonstrating how to use the program correctly to ensure the integrity of research papers and academic theses.
