The Assistant Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies (IIPS) at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC), Dr. Ali Hassan Tarish, participated in the electronic symposium organized by the Iraqi Society for Communications and Information Technology which is entitled “Artificial Intelligence Governance.”
Dr. Tarsh pointed out that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) is considered “the new electricity,” stressing that this technology has left no room without being influenced by it, and as it continues to develop into a global tool, it will contribute to shaping the future in the same way that electricity contributed to building modern civilization.
He added that the first step towards building an effective Artificial Intelligence strategy lies in having a successful data plan that ensures a strong connection between the technology and the huge amount of data it relies on.
The symposium concluded by emphasizing the basic principles of Artificial Intelligence Governance, which are representing respecting human rights, reducing bias, and ensuring justice and transparency in decision-making, in addition to enhancing Arab and International cooperation in this strategic field.
