The University of Information Technology and Communications has announced the admission of two students from the Syrian Arab Republic under the “Study in Iraq” initiative for the academic year (2025–2026). This initiative was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with the aim of attracting Arab and international students to study at Iraqi universities and enhancing Iraq’s academic standing at both the regional and international levels.
The admissions included student Ali Mahmoud Wasouf, who was accepted to pursue a Master’s degree at the College of Engineering / Department of Communications and Mobile Computing under the Free Scholarship Program, and student Mohammed Adnan Mohammed Bashir, who was accepted to pursue a Ph.D. at the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies / specialization in Computer and Informatics Sciences under the Self-Financed Program.
They were received by Dr. Haider Mashali, the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, along with Prof. Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, Dean of the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies, the Scientific Assistant, and the Head of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department. The university representatives emphasized their commitment to providing an outstanding academic environment that enhances the research and scientific skills of postgraduate students.
This step comes as part of the university’s efforts to support initiatives of academic openness and international cooperation, which contribute to making Iraq an attractive scientific destination in the region and reflect the bright image of the development of higher education and scientific research in the country.
