The College of Biomedical Informatics held a workshop on rigorous scientific publishing in light of the requirements set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop was presented by the dean’s assistant for scientific affairs, Dr. Sana Ahmed Kazem, and the head of the Teaching Intelligent Systems Department, Dr. Zainab Naaman Al-Qudsi.
The workshop aimed to discuss and analyze quality standards in scientific publishing and how to enhance the credibility of scientific journals. It also addressed aspects related to improving the quality of research and scientific journals in accordance with the ministry’s requirements.
The organizers highlighted the importance of quality standards in scientific publishing, innovative methods to ensure the rigor of journals, and ways to enhance the academic community’s trust in scientific publications, as well as the compatibility of research and journals with accreditation and evaluation procedures set by the ministry.
Additionally, the challenges faced by researchers in Iraq regarding publishing were discussed, along with practical solutions to improve the level of research and scientific publishing, and the role of technology in enhancing publication efforts. The workshop also touched on the ethics of scientific publishing and how to address issues related to academic integrity and plagiarism. At the end of the workshop, practical applications were opened to allow participants to practice what they learned and analyze models from research and scientific journals to improve their understanding of the required standards.
