The College of Business Informatics organized a workshop titled: “How to get an ISBN – ” as part of its series of scientific activities. The workshop, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ali Mohammed and Assist. Prof. Sana Mohsen Adhab covered several key topics, notably the definition of the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and its importance in academic documentation. This number is essential for any author or researcher looking to publish their book according to internationally recognized standards. The workshop also outlined the practical steps for obtaining the ISBN in Iraq through the Iraqi National Library and Archives, detailing the official procedures required to register a book and obtain publication approval. It addressed the stages of writing a book, whether an original work or a translation, and the documentation and administrative requirements associated with each case. Additionally, the workshop highlighted the regulations and ministerial instructions regarding the use of books for academic promotion. It clarified the conditions that must be met for a book to be considered part of an academic promotion file and the most common mistakes to avoid.
