The Department of Media and Communication Technology Engineering at the College of Engineering organized a scientific field visit for third-year students to Shams Al-Ma’arifa for Information Technology and Communication Services Ltd., located on Al-Sina’a Street in Baghdad. The visit was conducted under the supervision of a number of the department’s faculty members.

 

The visit aimed to strengthen the students’ practical skills by providing them with direct exposure to the mechanisms of designing and planning internet and communication networks, as well as familiarizing them with the types of cables used to connect networks and devices. The visit also included a practical explanation of fiber-optic cable technology, methods of laying and splicing it, in addition to a demonstration of testing procedures using the latest inspection and splicing equipment.

 

At the conclusion of the visit, the faculty members and students expressed their thanks and appreciation to Shams Al-Ma’arifa Company and its technical staff for the warm reception and for providing a practical training environment that contributes to developing students’ skills and enhancing their knowledge in this vital field.
