Based on the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in implementation of the programs and activities of the National Strategy for Education and Learning for the month of May 2025, the Continuing Education Center at the university organized a seminar on developing legal skills, titled “The Rights and Duties of Employees in Light of the Current Laws.” The seminar, presented by the Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the university, Lecturer Dr. Mohammed Kareem Ali, focused on introducing the laws governing public employment and the rights entailed for employees, including those stipulated in the Civil Service Law No. (24) of 1960 and the Law of Salaries for State and Public Sector Employees No. (22) of 2008, which covers financial rights such as salaries, allowances, bonuses, and promotions, as well as non-financial rights such as leaves. The seminar also highlighted the key duties that employees must respect and adhere to to avoid disciplinary sanctions stipulated in the Disciplinary Law for State and Public Sector Employees No. (14) of 1991, in the event of any violations. Furthermore, the seminar explained the main obligations mentioned in the Code of Professional Conduct No. (1) of 2016, which requires employees to comply with these obligations as a condition for continued service. It also addressed the cases in which an employee’s relationship with the job may be terminated, such as through resignation, retirement, or termination during the probation period.
