The Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Post Graduate Studies (IIPS) at the University, Prof. Dr. Suha Muhammad Hadi, participated in the second technical committee meeting of the first Smart Cities Forum, which comes in preparation for the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum, which will be held on February 17.
The meeting included a review of a group of successful experiences in several countries and the latest solutions and modern applications for smart cities and their management mechanism in the world.
The basics of establishing and developing these cities in Iraq were highlighted along with enhancing the use of technology in a sustainable environment, which improves the quality of life by providing citizens’ requirements for alternative solar energy and thermal insulation in addition to the requirements of people with special needs. The meeting of the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum was held by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce in Iraq, in cooperation with the National Investment Commission, the New Cities Implementation Authority in the Ministry of Construction and Housing, and the National Security Advisory. It was attended by the Arab Cities Organization, representatives of some ministries, the Communications and Media Commission, some Iraqi universities, the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, the company organizing the forum, and the Commission’s advisor for renewable energy affairs.
