A postgraduate diploma project on spelling error correction using distance algorithms was discussed at the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Information Technology and Communications.
The project of the higher diploma student Osama Nabeel Hussein was discussed, entitled: “Spelling Correction using Distance Algorithms for English Language “.
The proposed system adopts a two-stage approach, in the first stage, misspelled words are detected by comparing them to the dataset, and in the second stage, they are corrected and suitable alternatives are proposed, and to comprehensively evaluate performance, metrics such as accuracy, processing time, and similarity values ​​are used.
After the project was discussed by the discussion committee, the student received a higher diploma with excellent rating.
