As part of the efforts of the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC) to support and empower academic leadership and enhance institutional performance, Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, President of UoITC, participated in the training program titled “Leadership and Administrative Skills Development for Presidents of State Universities.” The program was organized by the High Institute for Leadership Preparation and Development under the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and held in the capital, Baghdad, from July 14 to 17, 2025.

The program aims to develop the leadership and administrative skills of Iraqi university presidents by strengthening their capabilities in strategic planning, decision-making, and modern university administration, in alignment with the requirements of higher education and in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Iraq.

The program covered multiple topics, including:

• Challenges facing scientific research in Iraqi universities and their impact on global rankings.

• Mechanisms for performance evaluation, quality assurance, and academic accreditation tools.

• Approaches to improving institutional performance according to national and international standards.

• Exchange of experiences on best practices in governance and modern administration in higher education.

The participation of Dr. Al-Bakri in this program reflects the institution’s commitment to follow up the latest administrative developments and enhancing academic performance in support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s directions, and reinforcing the university’s presence on both the national and international levels.
