The College of Engineering at the university organized a scientific seminar on the role of scientific research in enhancing the scientific classification of departments and colleges, presented by the lecturer Ghosoun Saeed Abed from the Department of Information and Communication Technology Engineering, and the lecturer Maad Mohsen Majoul from the University of Iraq, College of Administration and Economics.

The seminar addressed the importance of scientific research and its citations in improving the academic classification of universities, and it was emphasized that scientific research represents a measure of the quality of academic institutions, as it contributes to enhancing their reputation and attracting distinguished students and faculty members, and citations to research are an indicator of their impact on the scientific community, which contributes to raising the classification of universities globally.

Participants pointed out that global rankings depend largely on scientific research criteria such as the number of published research papers and their citations. The role of research in attracting funding and research grants that contribute to the development of education and scientific research was also emphasized. At the end of the seminar, speakers stressed the need to adopt a research culture that enhances cooperation between colleges and supports the establishment of joint research centers with the aim of achieving a tangible impact locally and globally.
