The Dean of the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies (IIPS) at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC) , Dr. Soha Muhammad Hadi, participated in the Iraqi Digital Space Forum activities in its second edition, which came entitled “Public Digital Infrastructure”.
The Dean’s participation came within a dialogue session entitled “Data Integration and the National Digital Infrastructure,” where she stressed during her intervention the importance of preparing and developing specialized human cadres, and investing in Iraqi scientific energies, especially master’s and doctoral graduate students, as they are a basic pillar for the success of the digital transformation path in the country.
Moreover, she stressed the need to benefit from the outputs of Iraqi universities specialized in the field of informatics, including the University of Information Technology and Communications, and the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies, instead of relying on external expertise, due to the scientific competencies students possess capable of supporting national digital projects. Also, she stressed the importance of establishing interconnected national data centers, while ensuring the highest standards of information security and protecting the privacy of stored data.
The Iraqi Digital Space Forum witnessed a wide attendance of representatives from state institutions , the private sector, and academic institutions, as well as international organizations. The forum discussed a number of vital topics, including digital identity, digital governance, digital payment, data integration, and other topics that form the basis for building an integrated national digital space.
