A lecturer at the College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC), Mamon Yousuf Rajab, published a joint scientific research with a group of Iraqi university professors in the court journal Dragoman, a Belgian Journal, which is classified within the global Scopus database.

The published research was entitled:
“The Narrative Space and the Semiotic Significations of Pain and Hope: A Semiotic Reading of Elegy of an Immortal Being” where the research deals with the role of the narrative place in forming the significance, and transcends the spatial framework to reflect psychological and social refraction, depending on the analytical -semiotic approach to tracking spatial symbols and highlighting its role as a narrative actor equivalent to the characters and embodies the transformations of Iraqi society from belonging to loss, and from familiarity to isolation.

The importance of the study lies in linking literature to social reality and highlighting the effectiveness of the place in reading societal transformations, in line with the sustainable development goals calling for promoting cultural identity and employing literary creativity in building a collective awareness that contributes to reshaping the image of Iraqi society and enhancing its presence in the global human scene.

This achievement is a result of scientific cooperation between the university and higher education institutions, and evidence of the endeavor of Iraqi scientific research to consolidate its international presence.
