The Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Standards at the University of Information Technology and Communications held its regular meeting, chaired by Lect. Dr. Qusay Shehab Hamad, to discuss the University’s results in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025.
The meeting featured a review of the University’s performance, which demonstrated remarkable progress, with the overall rating rising from 20.5 in 2022 to 40.1 in 2025, and the number of sustainable development goals in which the University participated increasing to 8, and the University also achieved a position within the 1501+ bracket globally, out of 2318 universities.
The committee chairman emphasized the importance of teamwork, building the abilities, and developing an accurate database to ensure continued progress, affirming the need to develop a strategic plan for the next five years.
The University’s performance in key objectives was also reviewed, including:
Sustainable Cities and Communities (42.1 – 601–800 ranking)
• SDG 5: Gender Equality (42.0 – 801–1000 ranking)
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals (33.0)
The committee called for early preparation for the next classification cycle, expected in October 2025, and coordination according to well-thought-out plans that enhance the University’s role in supporting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
