The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the results of the Iraqi evaluation of public and private universities for the academic year 2024.
The University of Information Technology and Communications obtained the 23rd rank out of 37 public universities, which is the first among its young counterparts.
The results of the evaluation of the scientific departments in the university’s colleges were as follows: the Department of Information Systems Management obtained 40 points while the Department of Business Information Technology obtained 25 points from the College of Business Informatics. As for the departments of the College of Engineering; the Department of Communications Engineering and Mobile Computing obtained the second place with a score of 40 for the comparable departments in Iraqi universities and colleges. Likewise, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Engineering obtained 40 points. As for the College of Biomedical Informatics; the Department of Bioinformatics obtained 40 points and the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems obtained 25 points.
The evaluation, which was set by the Ministry, was based on (10) axes and special standards for measuring institutional performance, including institutional accreditation standards 20%, global classifications 10%, effectiveness of scientific research 35%, and educational laboratories 5%. While the evaluation of the scientific and academic reality and compliance rules was 5%, faculty members 4%, awards 5%, diversity and international cooperation 10%, support for the student sports club 3%, and occupational health and safety 3%.
