The Continuious Education Center, in collaboration with the College of Engineering, organized a scientific seminar on “Developing a Culture of Strategic Thinking and Planning” as part of the activities and programs of the National Strategy for Education and Training for June 2025.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Abdullah Nihad, a faculty member in the College of Business Informatics, who highlighted the importance of strategic planning in academic institutions and its essential stages, which begin with formulating a future vision, setting strategic goals, preparing executive plans, and concluding with mechanisms for continuous performance monitoring and evaluation.
Dr. Nihad discussed the concept of strategic thinking as a cognitive skill that requires a deep understanding of both the internal and external environments of the institution, as well as the ability to anticipate opportunities and challenges and to formulate clear pathways to achieve long-term goals.
The seminar also covered steps for analyzing the internal and external environment, diagnosing strengths and weaknesses, and identifying opportunities and threats, which contribute to building effective strategies that support the development of academic and administrative performance. Practical models and successful global experiences in the field of strategic planning within higher education institutions were also presented to achieve their developmental and educational goals.
