The College of Biomedical Informatics organized a seminar on the importance of data storage security. The seminar, delivered by Dr. Mazen Haitham Rzouqi, focused on the simplest and least expensive methods for protecting data. Participants learned about the concepts of hacking and cyber-attacks and how to maintain and secure data storage media, including the types of attacks, methods, and techniques involved. He pointed out that a hacker does not necessarily have to be an attacker. It was also noted that all users in the electronic environment are exposed to these risks; however, digital services cannot be dispensed with due to their significant conveniences. Therefore, the emphasis was placed on how to protect data, personal information, and privacy at the lowest possible cost. The seminar presented a range of proposed solutions for data protection, including the recommendation to store data on offline storage media rather than cloud storage, in addition to adopting smart practices in handling data to ensure effective protection.
