Prof. Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, Dean of the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies, participated in the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum, organized by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce in cooperation with the International Chamber of Commerce, and in coordination with the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the New Cities Implementation Authority in the capital, Baghdad.
During the dialogue session, titled “Smart City Management,” the dean of the institute highlighted the importance of Iraqi universities and the Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies, highlighting the technological applications developed by master’s and doctoral students, which can be leveraged to develop the electronic infrastructure for new cities and manage technologies.
Hadi emphasized that universities, including the University of Information Technology and Communications, serve as technology incubators and advisory platforms for all matters related to technologies to be implemented in smart cities.
The forum was attended by government officials, international experts, representatives from the public and private sectors, EU Ambassador Thomas Seiler, representatives from the International Chamber of Commerce, the Arab Towns Organization, and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), as well as global companies, to discuss digital transformation and smart city development in Iraq.
