The University of Information Technology and Communications honored the Artificial Intelligence Developers Competition winners, which was held during the Third Annual Iraqi Forum for Artificial Intelligence. His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Na’eem Al-Aboudi, handed the prizes to the winners. Muhammad Sabah, a Master’s student from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, won first place for his project “Smart Parking System Using Artificial Intelligence,” which aims to improve parking management through artificial intelligence techniques. Ruqaya Ala’a, who holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, won second place for her project “A lightweight model for object detection for devices with limited resources using TinyML,” which focuses on developing smart solutions that work on low-power devices. Third place went to Hussein Ali Hussein, a Doctoral student in computer science, for his project “A System for Detecting Assyrian Cuneiform Symbols and Signs,” which uses artificial intelligence techniques to decode ancient writings. These projects represent qualitative achievements in the fields of applied artificial intelligence, as they combined innovation and practical applications in various fields such as traffic management, the Internet of Things, and cultural heritage.
