The University of Information Technology and Communications, in cooperation with Al-Mustafa and Al-Nisoor Universities, organized its first annual central international guidance conference entitled (Modern technology and ways to address intellectual extremism and its repercussions on societal peace), which was held in the central hall of Al-Mustafa University.
The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri said in his opening speech at the conference, “The fight against extremism and terrorism requires multi-dimensional strategies that include intellectual, social and economic aspects in addition to modern technology.”.
While the President of Al-Mustafa University, Prof. Dr. Hadi Hassan Jassem noted that “the first global conference included several topics and lecturers from outside and inside Iraq, and this conference comes within the Ministry’s directions in combating intellectual extremism, identifying the causes, and presenting treatments through scientific and academic recommendations for a society free of negatives, and getting rid of the harmful effects that affect peaceful coexistence.”
The conference’s research was diverse and presented by specialized researchers from inside and outside Iraq, and It covered different titles, including treatments and how to prevent the danger of intellectual extremism and protect community peace.
The conference came out with several recommendations, including: forming a higher committee to combat intellectual extremism that includes specialized academics, developing a strategy to combat and prevent extremist and sectarian speech, and submitting a recommendation to the House of Culture and Arts to follow up on incitement leaflets and publications, in addition to focusing on scientific research results that contribute to reducing extremism in society.
