The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Professor Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, and his Assistant for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Mashali, participated in the opening ceremony of the First Scientific Conference of the Editorial Boards of Iraqi Journals, hosted by the University of Technology and attended by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In his speech at the conference, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized the need to increase the presence of Iraqi university journals in international publications and enhance their position in global impact and citation indicators.

The Minister of Education also explained in his speech that this conference embodies a renewed awareness and a firm will that has made scientific journals platforms for knowledge and spaces for research dialogue, enhancing the standing of Iraqi universities regionally and internationally.

He added that, over three years of continuous work, the Ministry has established a distinguished stage based on quality standards and specialized research. He pointed out that its adopted methodology for developing scientific journals is based on sound governance that ensures clear editorial policies and peer review mechanisms, as well as sustainable technical and technological support that enhances the smooth flow of publication in accordance with documentation standards and research data management. He also added that the Ministry of Higher Education, through its strategic partnerships with Scopus and Clarivate, has contributed to the integration of Iraqi journals into global databases and provided universities with accurate data on citations and research impact, in addition to opening channels for sustainable specialized support and consultations.

The conference was also attended by a number of university presidents and representatives, as well as experts from Elsevier, Clarivate, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and the ASF Foundation.
