The University of Information Technology and Communications participated in the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance meeting, hosted by the University of Kufa. The university was represented in this meeting by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Louay Adour George, and attended by several presidents of public universities, representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Ministries of Higher Education, Justice, Sports, and Youth, Labor and Social Affairs, in addition to representatives of the Popular Mobilization Authority and Religious Endowments. The meeting included discussing plans and programs to enhance community security, strengthen the national fabric, and combat phenomena alien to Iraqi society. It also focused on benefiting from the expertise of academic and research institutions and coordinating with relevant authorities to support the state’s efforts to achieve social stability. The meeting addressed several axes, including setting a clear vision and goals for the National Committee, preparing a comprehensive action plan for community awareness and guidance, and appointing two deputies for the committee and its representatives in all Iraqi governorates. The meeting concluded with recommendations, including preparing curricula to enhance national identity, monitoring social media that spread sectarian and extremist ideas, continuing to hold seminars and conferences aimed at combating takfiri thought, and organizing exchange visits between university students to enhance cultural understanding between the governorates. The committee will prepare a comprehensive report to be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office, including the results and recommendations issued by the meeting.
