The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, participated in the celebratory conference organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to mark the selection of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025, and the conference was directed by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Na’eem Al-Aboudi, and in cooperation with the National Standing Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance in the Prime Minister’s Office. In his speech at the conference, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaili, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting institutional partnerships that contribute to making Baghdad an academic, cultural, and tourist destination, and he also highlighted the role of academic and cultural institutions in supporting national development plans and Iraq’s Vision 2030. The conference was attended by a number of academic and cultural figures, including His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and the Director General of the Research and Development Directorate, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, and it also featured panel discussions, presentations, and events that embodied the state’s strategic vision for cultural and knowledge tourism, and the integration of the University’s roles with cultural institutions and the tourism sector. Dr. Al-Bakri’s participation comes within the framework of Iraqi universities’ support for national initiatives and enhancing their presence in events that reflect Iraq’s cultural and civilizational identity.
