The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, received a shield of thanks and appreciation from the Head of the Scientific Research Commission, Prof. Dr. Shafeeq Al-Mawla, in recognition of his efforts supporting Iraq’s endeavors to establish an advanced national space program that keeps pace with the requirements of the future.
This came during the work of the specialized workshop organized by the Scientific Research Commission in cooperation with the National Security Advisory and the Geospatial Data Management Center, entitled “Developing the Iraqi Space Program – The Preparatory Workshop for the Fifth International Conference on Geospatial Technologies and Smart Cities”, which aimed to enhance cooperation between academic and research institutions and government agencies to support Iraq’s move towards a sustainable space future.
The workshop was attended by a number of scientific and official figures, including National Security Advisor Mr. Qasem Al-A’araji, Director of the Geospatial Data Management Center Dr. Zaid Farhoud, and Director of the Space Research and Technology Center at the Scientific Research Commission Dr. Ra’ed Kamel Naji, alongside representatives from the Arab Space Cooperation Group, the Inter-Islamic Network for Space Sciences and Technology, and a number of international companies specializing in space industries.
