Two faculty members from the College of Biomedical Informatics participated in the activities of the Sixth International Scientific Conference of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies, organized by Al-Farahidi Private University in collaboration with the University of Baghdad.

Assistant Professor Khadija Abbas Sahan participated with a scientific paper titled “Computational Strategies for Designing Microplastic-Adsorbing Compounds to Mitigate DNA Damage in Cancer-Prone Individuals.”

The research focuses on computational strategies for designing microplastic-adsorbing compounds to mitigate DNA damage in individuals at risk for cancer.
Instructor Shireen Nizar Qasim also participated with a scientific paper on “Peripheral Neuropathy Resulting from Taxol Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer Patients.” The study summarized the role of chemotherapy in causing severe side effects such as peripheral neuropathy.

The conference was attended by the President and members of the University of Baghdad Council, a group of government officials at the executive, legislative, security, and local levels, as well as a number of Iraqi, Arab, and foreign academics, in addition to a number of researchers and specialists from various Iraqi universities, health, agricultural, industrial, and other institutions.
