The University’s Quality Assurance and University Performance Department organized a seminar entitled “UN Sustainable Development Goals”, as part of supporting national efforts to achieve the United Nations 2030 goals. The seminar was presented by Dr. Qusay Shihab Hamad, and the focus was on the first five goals of sustainable development, which are: poverty eradication, elimination of hunger, good health, good education, and gender equality. The seminar discussed ways to achieve these goals in Iraq, emphasizing the role of universities in supporting scientific research to find sustainable solutions. Research published in Scopus related to the Sustainable Development Goals was also presented, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting scientific research related to development. The seminar witnessed discussions on strategies for spreading the culture of sustainability among students and academics. The seminar is part of a series of events aimed at enhancing the university’s role in supporting Iraq’s vision for sustainable development.
