The University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC) held the 9th Iraqi Forum for Telecommunications under the title of (Empowerment in Digital Transformation). The forum was held to celebrate World Telecommunication Day and the 160th Anniversary of the establishment of the World Telecommunication Union. This forum was held in the university’s main hall with the attendance of many advisors in the fields of education, women’s affairs, and academics. Professor Dr Abbas Muhsen Al-Bakri said in his speech that there’s an urgent need to assist equality between genders in the digital field to enable women from all over the world to make use of digital transformation and contribute to it. He noted that despite the rapid impact and advancement of digital technologies across all sectors, these possibilities remain out of reach for many. The forum’s activities included two panel discussions titled “Equitable Empowerment of Girls in the Age of Digital Transformation” and another on “Digital Security, E-Justice, and National and International Responsibility.” It also included the launch of a number of initiatives, most notably the Digital Inclusion Initiative and the training of female cadres working in security agencies in the field of cybersecurity.
