The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, held an extensive meeting with the Administrative Assistant, Professor Dr. Mahdi Nassif Jassim, and the heads of the Follow-Up and Administrative Affairs Departments in order to discuss mechanisms for implementing the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding safety and fire prevention procedures in university buildings. This initiative comes in accordance with the directives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

During the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of full compliance with the ministry’s directives, particularly concerning the rehabilitation and maintenance of fire extinguishing systems, installation of early warning systems, removal of flammable materials, stressing on monitoring efforts, as well as promoting preventive awareness and coordinating with relevant authorities in emergency situations.

He also directed the formation of specialized task forces from the concerned departments to immediately follow up on the implementation of the instructions and to prepare periodic reports on progress rates. He stressed the importance of ensuring a safe university environment that protects lives, infrastructure, and public property.

The meeting concluded on reaffirmming full cooperation among all university formations is essential to advancing readiness and safety standards within the university campus.
