A team from the University of Information Technology and Communications participated in the Iraqi Universities Debate Championship in English, hosted by the American University of Baghdad. The championship witnessed wide participation from students representing various Iraqi universities and was held under the theme “The Iraqi Universities Debate Championship in English.”

The competition, organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the International Academy for Leadership and Development, served as a national platform aimed at enhancing students’ skills in critical thinking, constructive dialogue, and effective communication.
It also aimed to refine their leadership abilities through discussions on diverse issues related to social, scientific, and political realities.

The participation of the university’s team—which included Dr. Ghaith Jaafar, faculty member at the College of Biomedical Informatics, as supervisor; Dr. Mustafa Khalid, faculty member at the College of Engineering, as judge; and Dr. Alaa Talal Yaseen, Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division, also as judge, along with a group of university students—embodied the university’s commitment to supporting student and academic activities that contribute to shaping the personality of university students, developing their intellectual and leadership skills, improving their English communication proficiency, and encouraging their engagement in scientific and cultural competitions.
