In an effort to consolidate cultural and civilized awareness and to enhance the connection between scientific advancement and national identity, the College of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Information Technology and Communications (UoITC) organized an educational and cultural campaign to introduce the “Iraq Biennale” project, with the participation of a distinguished group of the college’s faculty members and students.
The campaign featured the display of a collection of educational posters that addressed the concept of the “Biennale” and its cultural and artistic significance.
Additionally, it introduced the objectives of the “Iraq Biennale” project and its role in reviving Iraqi civilized heritage while shedding light on the historical legacy of Mesopotamia.
The event focused on clarifying the term “Biennale,” which is of Italian origin and refers to international artistic and cultural events and exhibitions held every two years. These events serve as global platforms showcasing the latest trends in visual arts, architecture, and cinema.
Furthermore, the campaign highlighted the importance of utilizing Iraqi archaeological and environmental sites, transforming them into attractive cultural and tourist destinations for researchers and visitors alike.
This approach contributes to stimulating the country’s cultural and economic movement. It also invokes ancient Iraqi civilized symbols—such as the Lamassu (the Winged Bull), the Ziggurat, and Arabic calligraphy—reintroducing them through a contemporary artistic vision that reflects the depth and authenticity of the Iraqi identity.
The campaign concluded with a review of several international experiences and benchmarks in this field.
