The Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Information Technology and Communications, Professor Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, received an official delegation from Al-Khaleej College in the Sultanate of Oman, which is academically affiliated with Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.
The delegation included Professor Dr. Ali bin Hamad Al-Badi, Dean of Al-khaleej College, and Professor Taqi Al-Abdwani, Director of the International Institute for Training and Institutional Development and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Al-Khaleej College.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Haider Hassan Mashali, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Jaafar Adhab Ankood, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, as well as Mr. Ahmed Al-Yasiri, representative of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce from the private sector and the Ministry of Trade.
During the meeting, the Dean of the Institute delivered a brief presentation on the history of the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies (IIPS) and its academic activities.
The presentation highlighted statistics related to graduates of the three academic programs, scientific research published in international databases, and the Institute’s key orientations and academic programs—particularly in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation—along with its efforts to support scientific research and develop the capacities of students and researchers.
She also emphasized the importance of benefiting from the pioneering Omani experience in training and institutional development by expanding prospects for cooperation and exchanging scientific and academic expertise in a way that contributes to enhancing innovation and improving the quality of educational outcomes.
For their part, the delegation from Al-Khaleej College expressed their appreciation and readiness to cooperate in the field of applied research carried out by master’s and doctoral students at the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies, affirming their desire to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Letter of Intent was signed as an initial step toward concluding a future Memorandum of Understanding, aimed at exchanging scientific and academic expertise and strengthening institutional relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman.
