The College of Biomedical Medical Informatics at the University of Information and Communications Technology organized a seminar entitled “Foresight into Green Transformation Strategies Toward a Sustainable Economy”, as part of its efforts to enhance academic awareness of modern environmental trends and sustainable development.
The seminar, delivered by faculty member Asst. Lecturer Rana Abdul Hamid, aimed to explore future prospects and formulate practical roadmaps to accelerate the pace of green transformation, in addition to examining ways to turn environmental challenges into opportunities that support innovation and serve as drivers of sustainable economic growth.
The seminar highlighted the key pillars of strategic green transformation, particularly the transition in the energy sector through reducing carbon emissions, expanding the use of renewable energy sources, and adopting the principles of the circular economy by shifting from the “take–make–dispose” model to “reuse and reduce waste.” It also addressed the importance of smart city planning and the promotion of sustainable agriculture and food systems.
Furthermore, the seminar emphasized the pivotal role of academics in bringing about this fundamental transformation, affirming that the university is no longer merely an institution that grants degrees, but rather an integrated platform for producing solutions and serving the community through the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
