Professor Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies at the University of Information Technology and Communications, participated in the second Iraqi Smart Cities Forum. The forum addressed several topics related to the future of smart and sustainable cities, and ways to develop the investment environment and support digital transformation in Iraq.

The Dean’s participation was part of a dialogue session entitled “Standards for Smart and Sustainable Cities.” During the session, she discussed the importance of studying the challenges and problems facing the development of smart cities in Iraq, and working to find innovative technological solutions that are compatible with the nature and needs of the Iraqi environment and infrastructure.

The Dean also emphasized the important role played by academic and research institutions in supporting smart city projects. She noted the Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies’ interest in scientific projects and research that contribute to developing and implementing technological solutions to serve the development of smart and sustainable cities in Iraq, thereby enhancing the contribution of scientific research to achieving development goals and digital transformation.

She also emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation and integration between universities, government institutions, and the private sector, and to invest the outputs of academic research and studies in implementing smart city projects. She affirmed the institute’s readiness to build effective partnerships with various sectors and to provide expertise and technological resources that contribute to developing the digital infrastructure of cities and achieving a better quality of life for Iraqi citizens.

The second edition of the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum witnessed broad participation from a select group of representatives from national and international bodies, the public and private sectors, international organizations, and academic institutions, along with a number of experts and specialists. The forum addressed the future of smart cities in Iraq and reviewed the most prominent experiences and solutions in the fields of digital transformation, sustainability, and innovation, supporting the move towards building smarter and more sustainable cities.
