In cooperation with the National Security Service, the College of Engineering at the University of Information Technology and Communications organized an awareness workshop on “Combating Online Financial Fraud”, and the workshop was presented by specialists from the National Security Service, aiming to raise awareness about the risks of online fraud and methods of prevention.
The workshop, held in coordination with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, addressed the most common forms and methods of electronic financial fraud encountered by users both within and outside Iraq—particularly those involving electronic payment cards, online purchasing, and internet-based financial transactions, and it also outlined key preventive measures and safeguards that help mitigate these risks and protect users from fraud attempts.
The workshop also focused on the importance of raising community awareness regarding the risks associated with electronic financial transactions, emphasizing the need for caution and adherence to digital safety measures—particularly among groups more vulnerable to targeting, such as the elderly and retirees—thereby contributing to the security and safety of electronic financial transactions.
