The Department of Media and Government Communication, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University of Information Technology and Communications, held an awareness seminar entitled “The Impact of Mobile Journalism on Individuals and Society.”

The seminar, presented by Lecturer Dhiaa Sabah Jassim, addressed the concept of mobile journalism as a modern media method that relies on smartphones to produce and disseminate media content quickly and at low cost, thus contributing to the development of field journalism.

The seminar also reviewed the most prominent effects of this type of media, as it contributes to raising awareness, enhancing communication and community participation, and developing individual skills. Conversely, it highlighted some challenges, such as the effects on mental health, the spread of inaccurate information, distractions, and cyberbullying.

The seminar emphasized the importance and necessity of promoting media literacy to ensure the positive use of modern technologies and to reduce their negative effects on individuals and society.
