During the launch of Iraq Technology Week and the Information Society Forum, which was held with the participation of government institutions, international organizations and private sector companies, the President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri stressed the importance of promoting digital transformation and building a flexible digital infrastructure capable of facing challenges, disasters, and cyber attacks in order to support the continuity of services and protect society.

Al-Bakri noted in his speech that the week’s events, which are held in conjunction with World Telecommunication Day, are witnessing broad participation from governmental, private, academic and international organizations, and include dialogue sessions, workshops and a scientific conference specializing in digital resilience and interconnected systems.

The university president stressed the need to bridge the digital divide and ensure that technology reaches all segments of society, along with responsible investment in artificial intelligence technologies that serve development and enhance the capabilities of individuals, away from bias and division.

He also pointed out in his speech that communications are no longer just a luxury, but have become “digital lifelines” that contribute to the stability of societies and economies, calling for enhanced cooperation between the public and private sectors to shape a secure and sustainable digital future in Iraq.
