The University of Information Technology and Communications hosted the first meeting of the preparatory committee for “Iraq Technology Week,” as part of early preparations for launching this important technological event. Representatives from several governmental, academic, and private sector institutions participated, reflecting the importance of institutional integration in supporting digital transformation in Iraq.

The meeting was attended by the organizing and partner entities, including:

* University of Information Technology and Communications

* Ministry of Trade / Department of Private Sector Development

* Media and Communications Commission

* Iraqi Engineers Syndicate

* International Chamber of Commerce / Iraq Office

* Digital World International Company

During the meeting, which will be followed by several subsequent coordination meetings, participants discussed key organizational aspects and strategic plans to ensure the success of “Iraq Technology Week.” These plans aim to stimulate technological innovation, strengthen the environment for digital transformation, solidify partnerships between academic institutions and the public and private sectors, and align university education outcomes with the demands of the Iraqi technology job market.

The meeting also addressed several accompanying events expected to significantly enhance the event, most notably the International Conference on Digital Resilience and Interconnected Systems. This conference aims to promote digital resilience concepts in light of the accelerating pace of digital interconnection and to improve preparedness for disruptions and challenges arising from threats of war or failures of critical infrastructure and systems.

This conference aligns with the global agenda for World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2026, and is also part of the preparations for the tenth edition of the Iraqi Telecommunication and Information Society Forum, a vital national platform for dialogue, exchanging expertise, and exploring the future of communications, technology, and digital transformation in Iraq.
