The University of Information Technology and Communications has signed a scientific and research cooperation agreement with the Scientific Research Authority, in a step aimed at enhancing institutional partnership and advancing scientific and technological research in a way that supports digital transformation and serves the community.
The agreement was signed by the University President, Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Al-Bakri, and on behalf of the Scientific Research Authority, its President, Professor Dr. Shafiq Shaker Al-Moussawi.
The memorandum of cooperation includes several key areas, most notably strengthening joint scientific and research collaboration between the two parties in the fields of information technology, communications, and artificial intelligence, as well as working on transferring and localizing modern technologies and opening new horizons for cooperation between national institutions.
The agreement also stipulates the implementation of joint research projects, the development of applications and software systems, as well as the exchange of scientific and technical expertise, the provision of consultations and technical support, and joint supervision of postgraduate students.
Areas of cooperation further include capacity development through training and specialized workshops, organizing scientific conferences and seminars, exchanging data and research publications, and benefiting from the laboratories and facilities available to both parties, in addition to scientific exchange visits and summer training for students.
The memorandum outlines implementation mechanisms through the formation of a joint coordination committee to follow up on programs and activities, while emphasizing that no financial obligations shall arise except through subsequent agreements, and ensuring confidentiality of information and the protection of intellectual property rights for joint projects.
The agreement is set for a period of three years, renewable, in a way that ensures the continuity of cooperation, keeps pace with scientific and technological advancements, and contributes to supporting the progress of scientific research in Iraq.
